I modified a Raspberry Pi mini-computer to
create stop motion Films.
This was an excellent graduate class project that is sure to come in handy in the classroom. It takes and stores images at the touch of a button. Mounted on a gooseneck phone holder the students simply have to snap successive pictures. Now children of various ages, say 4th grade and up, can explore stop motion animation at a station set up for the purpose. Older students can write scripts and story ideas. They can work with clay figures like Rankin & Bass, cut out paper shapes like Southpark, use Lego as in The Lego Movie, or use their own bodies as you see here. The resulting films can be converted to gifs to be used anywhere on the web.
... And in school, students are less likely to be photo-bombed by their cat!
